The Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI) – the social arm of Shell Companies in the Philippines, and the TESDA Regional Training Center I (TESDA-RTC I) sealed a Memorandum of Agreement on July 4, 2024 at the training center’s lobby.
The signed MOA entails the collaboration of the two parties to support conducts of skills trainings dubbed as “Sanayan sa Kakayahang Industriyal” (SKIL), which aims to provide trainings and livelihood to out-of-school youth and bonafide residents of La Union to contribute to inclusive economic growth and maintain meaningful employment.
“This collaboration represents a shared commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainable development… Our partnership with the Pilipinas Shell Foundation Inc. is a testament to the power of this collaboration. By combining our resources, expertise and vision, we are poised to create meaningful programs and initiatives that will empower individuals, uplift communities and drive progress” states Engr. Arturo G. Gañalon, the Supervising TESD Specialist of TESDA-RTC I, on his Opening Remarks.
The MOA was signed by and between TESDA-RO1 Regional Director Joel M. Pilotin – representing TESDA-RTC I, and Provincial Board Member Hon. Maria Rosario Eufrosina “Charry” P. Nisce – representing PSFI. Among the guests present to witness the signing are the first target beneficiaries of the agreement – a batch of twenty-five (25) individuals selected from the center’s waiting list to be trained in Electrical Installation and Maintenance NCII.
“We hope that you demonstrate discipline, commitment, and dedication, as we embark on this journey. The only thing that TESDA and PFSI is asking you in return for this program are your stories of success in the future. This program is now the answer to your prayers to have an opportunity to change the course of your lives. The only thing left to do now is for you to exert efforts and time to it.” iterates Hon. Nisce on her talk as she introduced the program to the prospect scholars.
“The Regional Director in front of you is himself a proud recipient of the Pilipinas Shell Foundation’s generosity, as I was once their scholar in plumbing and pipe-fitting trainings way back 1983. I witnessed first hand how this social arm of Shell Companies helps in uplifting the lives of Filipinos by investing in the country’s human capital – its workforce, through programs like this” adds Dir. Joel M. Pilotin.
The first training under this agreement is planned to start on July 22, 2024. Aside from knowledge and skills in electrical installation and maintenance, trainees will also be equipped with basic principles on Leadership and Entrepreneurship. (????)
