In pursuance to the Memorandum of Agreement by and between Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Department of Education (DepEd), twenty-four (24) teachers in both Senior High School Technical Vocational Livelihood (SHS-TVL) and Junior High School Special Program for Technical Vocational Education (JHS-SPTVE) in the Region, were trained in Trainers Methodology Level NCI – a qualification that enables them to become TVET Trainers and Assessors. Among those trained, fifteen (15) were certified Competent for the said qualification.

 

The said training was conducted from July 1 to August 7, 2024 using a blended learning approach wherein these teachers were taught of principles, skills and discipline in delivering TVET training sessions and conduct competency assessments, through face-to-face discussions and online by using the center’s Learning Management Site.

 

Following the success of the training, a National Competency Assessment was conducted on August 9-11, 2024, by TESDA Region 1’s Regional Expert Panel composed of Ms. Glenda O. Acevedo – Supervising TESD Specialist of TESDA Provincial Office (La Union), Mr. Dennis E. Infantado – TVET Trainer of TESDA Luciano Millan Memorial School of Arts and Trades, and Mr. Catalino B. Abellera – the owner of ABC Technical Learning Center, Inc. During this, the competencies of these teachers were evaluated through Portfolio Evaluation, Written Exam and Demonstration. Fifteen (15) were certified competent.
