TESDA-Regional Training Center La Union distributed starter toolkits to its graduate-scholars in Driving NCII and Carpentry NCII under the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) funded by the Office of La Union’s First District Representative and the Assistant Majority Floor Leader of the 19th Congress – Hon. Francisco Paolo “Pao-wer” P. Ortega V, on April 25, 2024.

STEP is a community-based specialty training program that addresses the specific skills needs of the communities and promote employment, particularly through entrepreneurial, self-employment and service-oriented activities. One of the most important intervention under this scholarship is giving scholars a set of starter toolkits relevant to their completed training.

Graduate-scholars in Driving NCII were awarded with a Hydraulic Jack (3 tons capacity) and a basic Driver’s Tool Set. Meanwhile, graduate-scholars in Carpentry NCII were given with a Circular Saw and a Portable Hand Drill.

On his message relayed through the Center Chief Artemio S. Pulido, Cong. Ortega highlighted the importance of investing in the human capital of La Union. Moreover, the good congressman hopes that such quality training and starter toolkits given to the scholars will be utilized as these are symbols of opportunities to promote a more vibrant economic activities in the province.
